NB venue change! 20th July 2025: Arboretum Working Bee

Sir John William Hall Arboretum Working Bee
Sunday 20 July 2025, 10am – 1pm

Join us for a community working bee at the Sir John William Hall Arboretum — New Zealand’s oldest arboretum and a much-loved short loop walk for many in Thames.

Unfortunately, invasive weeds like climbing asparagus, ginger, and privet are starting to creep in, threatening both native and exotic species. We’re kicking off a regular maintenance effort to control these weeds and replant with natives from our local Pare Hauraki Nursery.

This working bee will focus on the entrance area of the track. We’ll be clearing invasive species, spreading mulch, and planting hardy native species in their place.

Come lend a hand — and maybe discover your new favourite walking spot along the way!
